Republicans in 2011

Amazingly, the Republicans ramped a lot of their follies and attacks before they even took over the House. After that, the silliness accelerated. They wouldn’t pass a bill honoring the SEALs who got bin Laden, but the same day they passed a bill honoring George Bush, the guy who didn’t get bin Laden, and putting his name on a courthouse. They wouldn’t pass a jobs bill, but they did push a bill to restrict a woman’s right to choose. They said they’d shut down the government and send America into default, rather than hurt their real masters by stopping trillions of dollars in tax giveaways to the rich and corporations. Their only action on high gas prices was to give billions in your tax money to Big Oil companies who don’t need it and don’t deserve it. They screamed for spending cuts, while spending $100 million on a missile system that doesn’t work, and even more money for a jet engine that the Pentagon said repeatedly that it doesn’t want. Why is this happening? Bribes. Latinos asked for the DREAM act, and the Democrats introduced the bill; the Republicans are working to kill the DREAM act, and instead pushed for state bills that allow the police to throw Latinos in jail unless they can prove they’re Americans. I guess people with brown and black skin don’t count as real Americans.

And in their spare time they voted to take away your Medicare.

At the state level, they are working with might and main to take away your rights: if your son is a student, or your father is retired, the Republicans don’t want them to get to the polls and vote. If you’re fortunate enough to have a job, they want to take away your rights as a worker.

Maybe they didn’t get much done for the American people because they were too busy appearing on Fox News, hollering that torture is good for America, and that Obama wasn’t born in America.
